Overview

From pixel-mapping software to LEDs in one box

Plug the HDMI output of your favourite pixel-mapping tool into Pixout, point the ArtNet output at your LED nodes, and you're done. The converter reverse-engineers the mapping once, then runs the show standalone — no licences to renew, no PC to babysit.

Features

What's under the hood

Six reasons LED designers, integrators and OEMs use Pixout instead of a media-server rig — see Hardware and Software below for the full spec sheet.

Real-time video-to-DMX

Single-frame latency from HDMI in to ArtNet out — synchronised media facades, no jitter.

Grab any pixel mapping

Reverse-engineer mappings from MADRIX, MadMapper, ELM or Resolume via BMP/AVI files.

Up to 256 universes per box

VC128 and VC256 cover anything from a single facade to a full stadium scoreboard.

1U rackmount with LCD

Fits any AV rack; on-device LCD shows status, IP and signal at a glance.

Browser-based admin

Web panel works on Windows, macOS, Linux or iPad — Wi-Fi setup, no installer.

White-label & OEM friendly

Comparison

Media-server rig vs Pixout

A side-by-side look at what changes when you swap a media-server PC for a 1U HDMI-to-ArtNet converter.

Media-server PC

  • Reliability: a dedicated PC must run 24/7 on site, with all its OS and driver fragility
  • Footprint: tower or workstation that doesn't fit a 1U slot
  • Cost: recurring media-server licences and dongle replacements
  • Latency: variable, depends on OS scheduling, GPU drivers and CPU load
  • Skills: needs a video engineer to operate and troubleshoot
Typical media-server based ArtNet DMX setup

Pixout converter

  • Reliability: embedded FPGA + ARM box with watchdog — no PC to crash
  • Footprint: standard 1U rackmount with LCD — drops into any AV rack
  • Cost: one-time hardware + software licence, no annual fees
  • Latency: deterministic — exactly one video frame, every time
  • Skills: set up once via the web panel — client runs it from a browser

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What HDMI resolutions are supported?
The converter supports input up to 1600×1200 @ 60 Hz. Supported modes: 256×160, 800×600, 1024×768, 1280×960, 1440×900, and 1600×1200 — all at 60 Hz.
How many ArtNet DMX universes can one converter handle?
VC128 V2 outputs up to 128 universes; VC256 V2 outputs up to 256 universes. For larger setups you can chain multiple converters and split one large pixel mapping across them.
What pixel mapping software is compatible?
Anything that outputs HDMI video — MADRIX, Enttec Led Mapper (ELM) and others. Pixel mapping is imported via a special BMP/AVI file with custom RGB encoding.
Can I split a large pixel mapping across multiple converters?
Yes. Import one mapping into multiple converters and let each device serve a 512-universe slice.
Is there a web interface for configuration?
Yes. The converter ships with a built-in web Admin Panel — no software install on your machine.
What is the processing latency?
A single video-frame delay between HDMI input and ArtNet output — suitable for live events and synchronised media facades.
Is a white-label / OEM version available?
Yes. Pixout offers private labelling including branded hardware, software, web panels and dedicated support.
How can I pay for the converter?
Credit or debit card via Stripe. B2B customers can also pay by bank transfer / invoice — contact sales@pixout.lighting.
